Describe your trip
“It was a really interesting experience with Sri Lankan people and Deaf students from school. Some of them taught us basic Sri Lankan sign language like tea, coffee, milk and others. I think it was a worthwhile trip & visiting different places in Sri Lanka like elephant/turtles and cute baby turtles. I didn’t realise Sri Lanka haven’t any equipment or special machines but when I saw people used their own hands to pull in fishing net on boats.”
How did you benefit from the experience?
“Learning about different cultures. I also interested in meeting D/deaf student and staff.”
What did VoluntEars do well?
“The VoluntEars leader was a good organiser and visiting different places e.g., Negombo, Colombo and others. In the daytime we were renovation and afternoon/evening go out.”
What was your most memorable experience?
“On 31st December 2015 we went to a nice restaurant & party on the beach, and the same time watched firework before new year 2016.”
