How do you think you benefitted from the experience?

“I have benefited massively from going to Nepal, I have become more confident in my ability to communicate with people and in particular with starting to learn and understand more sign language. I have become more appreciative of everything in my life and I have been shown that you really do not need a lot to be happy and rich.”

What did you like about the VoluntEars programme?

“I liked the mix of hearing and deaf people on the programme, it ensured that everyone was always inclusive and deaf aware which is something that is not often experienced in normal daily living. I liked the amount of renovation work, activities with the children and general sightseeing/excursions etc, I felt that I got a really good overall understanding and experience of Nepal.”

What did you learn?

“I have learnt so much sign language and it has been the stepping stone for me to continue learning it. I learnt about people from all walks of life and all about the wonderful Nepalese culture.”

What words would you use to describe your experience in Nepal?

“Nepal was beautiful, eye-opening and one of the most wonderful and amazing experiences of my life. I have learnt so many valuable skills and life experiences over the course of the trip which I will carry with me forever.”

What did VoluntEars do well?

“VoluntEars was really well organised and thorough, I think everyone felt safe and comfortable for the duration of the experience. The wide range of activities ensured a full and accommodating experience for everyone.”

How can VoluntEars improve?

“Longer trips as it went far too quickly!”
